Tuesday 25th September

Dear Parishioners,
I shall have to restrict myself this month to some news about alterations coming into effect during October.
1. Baptism

From the beginning of October Mr. Emerson and I will be giving much greater attention to the preparation of the parents bringing children to be baptised. In order to give us time to arrange this, we ask that wherever possible we should be given at least a month's notice before the intended date of the service.
2. Calendar Changes

Together with the Series 3 Communion Service there also comes a new Calendar. The cycle of these begins with the pre-Chrirstmas season on October 28th (the Ninth Sunday before Christmas). Each Sunday of the year has a specific theme with appropriate collect and readings. We shall be beginning to use these on October 28th. As the readings are not those appearing in the Prayer Book, they will be included in the Calendar. An article explaining this new Calendar will appear next month.
3. Parish Communion: Series 3

It is intended that we shall start using the Series 3 service at the Parish Communion on Advent Sunday, December 2nd. We hope that the choir will have mastered one setting of the service by then. We have sufficient copies of the music edition for each member of the congregation to have a copy, hoping that this will make it easfrer for us all to become familiar with the music.
4: From October 1st there will be a daily celebration of Holy Communion at Saint Mary's:

Monday 7 pm
Tuesday 7.30 am
Wednesday 9.30 am
Thursday 10 am
Friday 8 pm
Saturday 9 am

The evening Communion on Wednesday will cease at the end of September, as will the extra service on Saints' and Holy Days.
5. From October lst Mr. Emerson will be having Thursday off, and the Vicar will be having Saturday.
Yours sincerely,

Darrel Speedy
