Theresa Amage

THE VICAR'S LETTER

Dear Parishioners,
Theresa Amage is a little girl of three and a half: one orphan among many thousands who lost their parents in the Nigerian Civil War. It seems a long time now since our news bulletins were full of the fighting and suffering - now it has been pushed out of our minds by newer horrors of Bangladesh, but the pain and anguish of Theresa and her companions will go on for years.
The Mothers' Union have taken on the support of an orphans home at Iyi-enu where 12-15 of these orphans will be brought up till they nave left school and learned a trade. Theresa has been adopted by Sheffield diocese and Lincoln Diocesan Young Wives have agreed to pay for her education at Onitsha Cathedral School. This will mean securing an income of £70 per year for 12-13 years ahead. It is planned to raise money quickly to form an investment fund so that Theresa's schooling can be guaranteed.
Barton Young Wives are holding a coffee Evening at Vicarage on Thursday 20 April from 7 pm-9 pm as their part of the work. There will be guitar entertainment. Please come and give generously for this very worthwhile cause.
I wish you all a very happy Easter.

Darrel Speedy.

This is a very worthwhile cause.
